This past weekend, Canadians celebrated Thanksgiving. A moment in the year allotted to us to take time out from the everyday routines of life to reflect and be thankful while enjoying the company of family and friends as we feast on our traditional turkey dinners.
Everyday should be Thanksgiving; minus the 2000 calorie meals of course. There are so many things to be thankful for; both the obvious and the not so obvious things that we often take for granted, such as the air we breathe or for the moon that lights up the night sky. Therefore we shouldn’t wait for a date on the calendar to determine when we do so but instead it should be a part of our daily routine to the point where we don’t have to think about it but just do it.
In my experience, the more thankful I am even for the least of things is the more I appreciate life and the easier it becomes to get through life’s obstacles as they come. There’s always a positive even in a negative situation we just have to take the time to discover it.
The Challenge!
Write out all the things that you are thankful for. It can be places you have gone, relationships that you have cultivated, acts of kindness that you have experienced and more. Try to think of things that you may not have thought of being thankful for but now realize how important or beneficial they are to you. The goal is to be thankful for at least 101 things - you may find yourself writing out a whole lot more, good luck!
